The short version
Twice a year works for most Davis County homes. Spring and fall. If you only do it once, do it in spring — winter grime plus spring pollen is the worst combination the glass sees all year.
Why spring matters most here
Along the Wasatch Front, windows take a beating from about November through April. Inversion season puts a fine layer of valley particulate on everything. Snowmelt splashes grit up onto ground-floor glass. Then spring arrives and dumps pollen on top of it.
By May, most homes have a film that people genuinely stop noticing — until it's gone. That's the single most common reaction we get: not "the windows look nice," but "the room feels brighter."
Why fall matters second
Fall cleaning is about two things:
- The holidays. If people are coming over between October and January, clean glass changes how the whole house reads.
- Getting ahead of winter. Clean glass sheds water better and gives you a clean baseline before the months when nobody wants to be outside.
Fall is also when we're already at a lot of homes for gutter cleaning and Christmas lights, so it's an easy one to bundle.
When quarterly is genuinely worth it
Four times a year isn't for everyone. It makes sense if:
- Your sprinklers hit the windows. This is the big one in Utah. Overspray leaves mineral deposits that build up fast, and buildup is far cheaper to prevent than to remove.
- You're on or near a dirt road, field, or new construction. Syracuse and west Layton homes see this constantly.
- You have a lot of south- and west-facing glass. Sun bakes deposits on faster.
- You just love it. Some people do, and honestly we get it.
Our quarterly plan takes $100 off every visit, which makes four visits a year cost less per visit than two.
What about interior windows?
Interiors get dirty much slower than exteriors — they're not taking weather. Most people do interiors once a year, usually in spring, and exteriors more often.
The honest exception
If your windows haven't been done in several years and you already have visible white or cloudy spotting that doesn't wipe off, a regular cleaning won't fix that. That's mineral buildup that has bonded to the glass, and it needs a separate restoration process. We'll look at it and tell you honestly whether it can come off before charging you anything.
